2024-2025 Web Intelligence Network Webinar Series

ESSnet logo

The ESSnet Web Intelligence Network (WIN) project was launched by Eurostat in 2021 and aims to develop and nurture a network of like-minded individuals to have access to the Web Intelligence Hub, where they will be able to explore an array of non-traditional data sources to accelerate the modernisation of the European Statistical System (ESS).

Building on the successful WIN webinar series delivered in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, WIN will continue to provide a series of free webinars 2024/2025 open to all to keep the community updated on the work being carried out across the several work strands.

You can view our previous webinars on our YouTube channel.

The following webinars are now available to book on Eventbrite:

Enhancing Data Quality and Methodologies for Web-Scraped Statistics, 16 January 2025 14:00 CET

This webinar, specifically designed for statisticians, data analysts, and researchers interested in web-scraped data and official statistics, will explore strategies to improve the quality and reliability of web-scraped data. It will combine insights from our work on establishing a quality and methodological toolbox for producing official statistics based on web data. The methodological part will cover sampling methods for web-scraped data, causes of bias before and during data acquisition, and strategies specific to web-scraped data. The quality part will focus on the so-called throughput phase. The ingested raw data is transformed into statistical data in its first part. In the second part of the throughout put phase, statistical output is produced from statistical data.
