Linda Hooper is a Statistician in the United Nations Statistics Division, where she is the coordinator of and serves as Secretary for the UN Statistical Commission. In this role, Linda works closely with the Director on the strategic planning and substantive work of the Commission and the Statistics Division. She also contributes substantively to preparations of the UN World Data Forum.

The focus of much of Linda’s UN career has been in the areas of sustainable development and social statistics, mainly gender and development statistics. Over her career, she contributed to the methodological development of gender statistics and oversaw various expert groups on data governance, health status, capacity development, among others. Before joining the UN, Linda was a Demographer at the US Census Bureau and briefly in the UN Population Division.
