2024-2025 Web Intelligence Network Webinar Series

The ESSnet Web Intelligence Network (WIN) project was launched by Eurostat in 2021 and aims to develop and nurture a network of like-minded individuals to have access to the Web Intelligence Hub, where they will be able to explore an array of non-traditional data sources to accelerate the modernisation of the European Statistical System (ESS).

Building on the successful WIN webinar series delivered in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, WIN will continue to provide a series of free webinars 2024/2025 open to all to keep the community updated on the work being carried out across the several work strands.

You can view our previous webinars on our YouTube channel.

The following webinar is now available to book on Eventbrite:

Introduction to the Data Acquisition Service (DAS) of the Web Intelligence Hub, 17 September 2024

Since 2021, Eurostat has been diligently working on a significant project — developing a general Data Acquisition Service (DAS). This service is designed to acquire information from the Web, a process instrumental in creating new or augmenting existing statistics. The DAS is a key component of the Web Intelligence Hub (WIH). This platform aims to provide the essential building blocks for harvesting information from the Web, thereby enhancing the production of statistics.

The webinar is not just a one-way presentation but an interactive session. It will present the status of the DAS development, give an insight into the available features, and provide a demo with different use cases. We encourage you to participate, ask questions, and share your thoughts actively. Your input is valuable in shaping the future of the DAS.

On the program:

  • A review of the general concepts, technologies, and tools for web pages
  • An overview of the tools that can be used to acquire data from the web
  • The technologies used and the infrastructure of the DAS
  • A demo of how the service can be used
