Call for Invited Paper Sessions proposals for the IAOS 2016 Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, December 6-8, 2016

 
All IAOS members are invited to present proposals for Invited Paper Sessions for the next IAOS Conference that will take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on December 6-8, 2016. The theme of the IAOS2016 conference is: “The Spirit of Official Statistics: Partnership and continuous innovation”. The Programme will include keynote speakers, invited paper sessions, workshops, panels, special late breaking sessions and contributed paper sessions. 

Submissions for IAOS invited paper sessions proposals close on January 15, 2016.

IAOS 2015-17 Strategic Plan

The 2015-2017 IAOS Strategic Plan was officially launched on World Statistics Day. This strategy will guide the development of IAOS services and functions. The agenda of the new strategy focuses on relevancy, visibility and partnership as well as institutionalization.

Statistics Without Borders - urgently looking for Methodologists to help with Measuring world-wide humanitarian crisis for refugees

As we are all aware, the world is currently facing a world-wide humanitarian crisis for refugees. Our colleagues in Statistics Without Borders (SWB), who have done great work in a number of crisis situations are looking for assistance as they seek to try and measure the size of this world-wide crisis.
SWB is looking for methodologists with extensive experience in transient populations, including those with experience with capture-recapture, adaptive sampling, and adaptive link-tracing designs; to volunteer to help in the design of the project. For more information seehere

SCORUS 2015 Conference

SCORUS, a committee of the IAOS, and network for regional and urban statistics; conducted its conference earlier in the year, on the theme of "Cities in Europe and in the World". The conference highlighted the increasing interest in measuring quality of life in the widest sense, moving away from just focusing on traditional economic growth measures. A summary of the conference can be found here.
